EDSON CARRA

Brazilian artist Edson Carra's oil paintings have attracted interest worldwide. He believes that the explored theme that mixed the figurative of fantasy with reality and the restlessness of dominance and submission relates to many people who seek the same narrative.

His painting was on the cover of the bestselling book Anglosakso by writer Neslihan Yalman, who fights for women's sexual freedom in Turkey. It was also on the cover of the album Your Toxins by the American band Platinum Moon. In addition, Edson was recently awarded and selected as one of the top 15 artists in Portuguese-speaking countries by Arte em PortuguêsKaleido.

Edson uses contrasting colours with black and red, and with shallow planes, he creates the illusion of intimacy and false security. Art critics recognise his art as minimalist surrealism, but his unique painting identity is the most recognisable, allowing his work to be signature free.

Among the themes, the artist addresses are the interest in sociocultural expressions, such as folklore in different regions of the world, and its native vegetation, especially in the Cerrado — his favourite biome — which was the subject of his postgraduate monograph in Landscape Design.
